Terms of Use
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms apply to the In God’s Presence app (“the app”), provided by Laura Pipper, c/o GAM, Pappelallee 64, 10437 Berlin, Germany, [email protected] (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled.
1. What the app is
In God’s Presence is a Catholic devotional app for prayer, Scripture reading, reflection and journaling. It is a tool for personal devotion. It does not provide pastoral, medical, psychological or other professional advice and is not a substitute for the sacraments, spiritual direction or professional help. If you are in crisis, please contact a priest, a doctor or your local emergency services.
2. Free and paid features
Part of the app is free. Other features require a subscription (“Premium”). Which features are included is shown in the app before you buy.
3. Subscriptions
- Purchase through the store. Subscriptions are bought and billed through the Apple App Store (and, on Android, Google Play). The store’s terms and payment conditions also apply. We never see or store your payment details.
- Prices. Premium is offered monthly or yearly. The current price, in your currency and including any applicable taxes, is shown in the app and in the store before you confirm.
- Free trial. New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and is charged automatically. The app reminds you before the trial ends.
- Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period for the same length and price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in your store account: on iPhone in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, on Android in the Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium until the end of the period already paid.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by the store under its refund policy. Your statutory rights, including any right of withdrawal under the law of your country, remain unaffected.
- Restoring. If you reinstall the app or change phones, use Restore Purchases in Settings with the same store account.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices for future periods. The store informs you in advance and, where required, asks for your consent.
4. Your content
Everything you write, record or create in the app (prayers, journal entries, notes, recordings, highlights) belongs to you. It is stored on your device; we do not receive it and claim no rights to it.
You are responsible for keeping it. If you lose or reset your phone, uninstall the app or erase its data without a backup, your content is gone and we cannot restore it. Backups are encrypted with a password that only you know: if you forget the password, the backup cannot be opened by anyone, including us.
5. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on devices you own or control, for private, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, decompile, resell or redistribute the app, except where the law expressly allows it.
The Bible text in the app is the Catholic Public Domain Version (CPDV). Other texts, designs, illustrations and code in the app are protected by copyright and belong to us or our licensors.
6. Availability and changes
We work to keep the app reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. We may update, change or discontinue features, in particular to fix problems, improve the app or follow legal requirements. If we remove a paid feature during a period you have paid for, we will offer an appropriate solution as required by law.
7. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible and on which you may regularly rely), and then limited to the damage that is foreseeable and typical for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability is excluded. This also applies to the personal liability of our representatives and helpers.
8. Ending use
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it; cancel any subscription separately in the store. We may end your right to use the app if you seriously breach these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for valid reasons, such as new features or changes in the law. We will inform you of significant changes in the app in good time before they take effect. If you continue to use the app after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you may stop using the app and cancel your subscription.
10. Law and disputes
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).
If any provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remain in effect.
